Theresa Davis

THERESA DAVIS has had vast experience in the music/recording and entertainment industries. After doing her first studio backup recording, at the age of 15, at Paul Sarano’s first recording studio in Chicago, Illinois, where she was born and raised, the fire was lit. Use to hearing the beautiful buzz of the tenor saxophone played by her father, helped with her ear training. To any group, her grace notes enhance the melodies.

In high school, Theresa joined a group called “Our Ladies Of Soul,” who released a single entitled “Let’s Groove Together” on the Aires Label. The song was a local hit, which brought her to the attention of other Chi-Town music makers.

In the early 70’s, she was asked to join another more established and successful group on the Stax Records label – THE EMOTIONS! Without hesitation, Theresa stepped into the famous sister group,
replacing the oldest sister, and remained with The Emotions for four years, working with legendary producers ISAAC HAYES and DAVID PORTER. Together, they recorded 3 hit albums (“Untouched,”
“Chronicles” and “Sunshine”). There were also several successful single cuts from the group that were released on the Volt label, such as 'The Touch of your Lips,” “I Call This Loving You,” and “Put A Little Love Away,” and one of the most requested Emotions song to date - “What Do The Lonely Do at Christmas.” In addition, the album “Songs of Innocence and Experience” was issued on the Ace
Records label in the UK in 2004, featuring previously unreleased songs.

Theresa eventually left The Emotions to pursue a solo career, recording an album for Stax. At the same time, she began doing print ads, jingles, and voice-overs. Today, she is a much sought-after
studio vocalist and arranger and has worked with many well-known recording artists, such as The Chi-Lites, The Dells and The Manhattans. She can also be seen with The Emotions in the “Wattstax” movie, which recently had its 30-year anniversary re-issue.

Theresa has also toured and performed live with Otis Clay all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe; with Ramsey Lewis, on his "Between the Keys" CD tour in the U.S., with The Sue Conway Victory Singers and with Rev. Jessy Dixon and the Jessy Dixon Singers in Europe.

Theresa's travels have taken her to places such as Amsterdam, Holland, Belgium, countless cities in Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Slovenia, Berlin, and Japan.
Theresa has done some theatre at Chicago's ETA Theatre, both musical theatre and stage acting, and has also done pit singing at The Black Ensemble Theatre. ETA Theatre is also where Theresa did her CD release party in March of 2000, for her first solo CD entitled 'SomeOne You Want to Love' on the McCartyArt record label.

Theresa sang on a PBS television special, "Love, Rhythm & Soul," where she sang back-up as part of a trio for artists such as: the late Lou Rawls, Freda Payne, The Spinners, Billy Paul, Thelma Houston, The Three Degrees, Edwin Starr, and others.

She is truly grateful to God for the gift of song, and will continue to shine her light as long as it is lit.

As a member of Tour De 4Force, Theresa is excited to be working with longtime friends, SCHERRIE PAYNE, JOYCE & PAM VINCENT, and JIM GILSTRAP. Their premiere CD, “QUIET MOON,” gives listeners a rare opportunity to experience true talent with their unique blend of smooth harmonies. "QUIET MOON" is a testament to the level of excellence that only artists of this caliber can achieve.
